My studies in holistic counseling enabled me to do in-depth work with clients and students over more than three decades. As a mentor, I create a safe space where individuals can explore the possibility of being open to experiencing their emotions and develop the willingness to discover their authentic selves.   • What is mindfulness? What does it mean to be emotionally aware or gain spiritual consciousness?

  • You will be able to grasp these concepts once you have experienced the unity of mind, body, and spirit, so you can discover what you need to heal yourself and your relationships.

  • Though it does not always seem to be the case, we all already contain “wholeness.”

  • We are undivided entities encompassing body, mind, emotions, and spirit. For psychological healing to take place, these aspects require balance and harmony.

  • Emotional responses have corresponding sensations in the body. However, we cannot receive the messages our bodies try to send us if the “feeling button” is switched off.

  • We remain disconnected from ourselves and cannot access our inner wisdom and personal truths when we have blocked the flow of messages among the body, mind, emotions, and spirit.

  • The techniques I provide will help you connect with your feelings and guide you towards integrating the various parts inside yourself.

I strongly suggest that participants complete the Introductory Module (Course 1) before enrolling in Effective Communication (Course 2) and Focusing (Course 3). It provides essential background information that serves as a foundation for all the courses. Those who wish to register for the Dialoguing Module (Course 4) should first complete Course 3, the Focusing Module, where you will attain the required abilities and build the foundation for the final course.

  • The Introductory Course will help you build greater self-awareness and further develop your emotional intelligence by introducing concepts such as the Five Agreements developed by Don Miguel Ruiz. You will discover more about the harm caused by jumping to conclusions, and better understand the roles empathy, mindfulness, self-regulation, and advanced social skills can play in creating change.

  • Holistic Psychology self-help techniques focus on engaging with one’s inner awareness and feelings in the body. It empowers us to find answers to the challenges we face within ourselves.

  • On the other hand, talk therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Humanistic, and Behavioral therapy primarily involve the verbal discussion of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Active Listening requires one to fully hear and understand what someone shares. Then, you feed their thoughts back to them in your own words, paraphrase their observations and feelings, share what you understand them to mean, and check whether you are right so they feel heard and validated before you share your own thoughts and feelings.

COURSE 4: DIALOGUING


NEGOTIATE BETWEEN YOUR INTERNAL VOICES

Our inner selves include several internal voices. Dialogical Self Theory (DST) calls them "I-positions."

 

  • The term “I-position" refers to distinct internal voices, each with its own viewpoints and facilitative approaches. These I-positions want the best for us. Each offers unique strengths and resources.

  • While they all work toward our best outcome, their methods may diverge, rendering some means counterproductive. You may recognize this when I-positions disagree with one another, leading to inner conflicts you may interpret as a clash between heart and mind.

  • Dialogical Self Theory (DST) entails techniques that enable two or more I-positions (also called self-aspects, internal voices, or parts) to speak to each other, negotiate, adapt, resolve conflicts, and work in concert toward your best interests.

  • Integrating fragmented or opposing I-positions by harmonizing these internal voices enhances insight, deepens self-knowledge, and fosters personal growth.

  • Constructive internal discussions enable straightforward decision-making, foster new perspectives, and transform relationships among I-positions, making your life easier.

IMPORTANT DETAILS YOU SHOULD KNOW

You can only benefit from doing these courses, whether you sign up for only the Introductory module or all four in the long run, if you practice the techniques as often as possible. Meditate, journal, or use the diverse mindfulness and breathing exercises we will discuss in the Introductory module. Furthermore, it is essential to practice the techniques, whether you participate in only one module or all of them. Consider connecting with fellow course participants and using Zoom or another platform if you live far apart. Alternatively, do sessions with friends or family members. Ask them to help you out, as they may also benefit.

You will have access to links to audio meditations that form part of each course:
